To stop being prompted to sign in on every startup, use one of these supported options in Windows 11:
- Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Check whether Only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device is turned on.
- If it is on, turn it Off.
- If the goal is to avoid entering a password at startup, switch the PC from a Microsoft account to a local account:
- Open Settings > Accounts > Your info.
- Select Sign in with a local account instead.
- Follow the prompts, then select Sign out and finish.
- After signing back in with the local account, automatic sign-in can be configured using the standard Windows method mentioned in the Microsoft Q&A guidance.
If the device is currently tied to the wrong Microsoft account from setup, first switch to a local account, then go back to Settings > Accounts > Your info and select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead to attach the correct account.
Note: using a local account or automatic sign-in reduces sign-in protection on the device.
