Can’t get verification code

If this is a personal Microsoft account and there is no access to the Authenticator app, the app cannot be reset by support.

Use one of these recovery paths:

1. If another sign-in or verification method is still available:
   • Go to the Advanced security options page.
   • Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
   • Confirm the new method with the security code sent to it.
   • Remove the old Authenticator/security method that is no longer accessible.
2. If the password is known but there is no access to any security methods:
   • Start signing in to the Microsoft account.
   • At Verify your identity, select I don't have any of these.
   • Follow the prompts to replace the security info.
   • After replacement, there is a 30-day wait before sign-in is allowed.
3. If the password is not known and there is no access to any security methods:
   • Use the account recovery form.

If verification codes are not arriving, also check:

• junk email for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com
• whether too many repeated code requests were made
• whether the account is temporarily blocked due to unusual activity
• whether the phone blocks texts from unknown numbers
• whether the registered number is a VOIP number, which cannot be used for sign-in verification

If sign-in is still blocked, use the Sign-in helper or Contact Microsoft Support. Support agents cannot send verification codes, password reset links, or change account details.
