    Hi Brita,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To delete a file that you accidentally uploaded to a SharePoint site, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Identify the SharePoint site where you uploaded the file.

Step 2: Open that SharePoint site.

Step 3: Locate the document you want to delete, select it > click the … (More options) button > select Delete.

If you are unable to delete the file, you may not have sufficient permissions to perform this action on the SharePoint site.

In this case, you will need to contact the SharePoint site owner or your organization's administrator (usually the IT department) for assistance with deleting the file.

I hope this information is helpful.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

Open the SharePoint document library that contains the file, then delete it from the library view:

    1. Select the file by clicking the checkbox to the left of it. Do not click the file name, because that opens the file.
    2. Select Delete on the toolbar.
    3. Confirm by selecting Delete in the message box.

If the library is using the classic experience:

    1. Open the document library.
    2. Hover over the file and select the checkbox.
    3. Right-click the file icon and select Delete.
    4. Select OK to confirm.

    Important:

    • If deleting a folder, all files and subfolders inside it are deleted too.
    • Deleted items may be recoverable from the recycle bin.
    • If Delete is not available or the deletion fails, common causes are that the file is checked out to another user, permissions are insufficient, or a retention policy is preventing deletion.
