we signed up in July 2026 for microsoft 365 for a yearly subscription for 129.99 plus tax, and the next payment will be due July 2027 automatic renewal on American Express ending in 1006. We just received an email that our microsoft 365 subscription is coming due in October 2026.

is it possible that we signed up in error in July and we actually already have an account

Please sign in to the Microsoft accounts you may have used and check:

Subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
Order history: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders

On Order history, adjust the date range so you can see purchases from before July 2026.

To help narrow this down:

Does the July 2026 subscription show as Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, and does it show the July 2027 renewal date?
Does the October 2026 renewal email show which Microsoft account/email address or subscription it is for?

the email for the october renewal does not specify but it is linked to a different credit card

It may be a separate Microsoft 365 subscription under another Microsoft account.

Please do the same checks I mentioned earlier for any other Microsoft accounts you or your family may have used.

Also, I would not cancel anything yet until you identify which account the October renewal belongs to.

Do you recognize the credit card linked to the October renewal?

Do you have another Microsoft account that may have been used for Microsoft 365 before July 2026?
