Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
If both Outlook accounts are set up to verify each other, use two separate private browsing windows so both accounts stay signed in at the same time.
- Open a browser in privacy mode and sign in to the first account.
- When prompted for the verification code sent to the second account, leave that window open.
- Open a second privacy-mode window. In Microsoft Edge, the shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + P.
- In that second window, sign in to the other Outlook account and get the verification code.
- Return to the first window, enter the code, and complete sign-in.
- Repeat the same process in reverse for the second account if needed.
If the codes still do not arrive, the accounts may be temporarily blocked due to unusual activity. In that case:
- Try another verification method if one is available.
- Try a different network, such as switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data.
- Stop repeated attempts and wait at least 24 hours. If still blocked, wait longer, up to 1 week, because repeated attempts can reset the lock period.
- Use the sign-in helper tool: Start
If two-step verification is turned on and there is no access to any alternate verification method, support cannot send reset links or change account details.
A Game Pass subscription does not change the account recovery process in the provided guidance.
