Unauthorised payment of subscription for Microsoft

I have purchased an HP Laptop through HP's sales website which was delivered on 9/9/26. I had just come home from having surgery and was not well enough to even open the box until the next day and only today do I feel strong enough to start setting up my email provider, check on photographs and such like.

I was shocked to see a box appear telling me I have paid $29.99 for a subscription to Microsoft 365 on 9/9/26 which HP has advised me is the start date of the warranty on the Laptop. I have no idea how this payment on the credit card I used to pay on line for the HP order has been used to pay this subscription when I have no wish to have an account with the 365 program, I also do not understand how the payment went through on the 9/9/26 when I didn't even open the box containing the Laptop until the 10/9/26 and I only looked to see it had arrived in good condition, I did not even connect it up power point to charge up the battery for quite a few more days.

I have asked HP if they have any knowledge of this subscription forming part of the purchase of the Laptop but they say they had no involvement and I have to take the matter up with you. I will be contacting my credit card company to ask them to investigate how this payment went through when I had no knowledge, especially as I know the date in question 9/9/26 I had not even taken the Laptop out of its box.

I am deeply disturbed by this event and expect to hear back from you as soon as possible regarding the cancellation of the subscription and a full refund of the $29.99.

Log into your Microsoft account on this link, do you find a Microsoft 365 subscription listed there, and if so, on the left, click Billing, do you see the payment for the subscription listed?

    https://account.microsoft.com/services/

If so, click Manage on the subscription, and from there, you can cancel the subscription to get a pro-rata refund and also disable the recurring billing on the subscription.

If you are unable to find the subscription listed, using any Microsoft account you may have, try using the steps they provide on this link to find out what that payment was for.

If you are still unable to resolve that payment problem, this forum is just a user to user forum, no-one here has any account access, you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly, try using this method to contact their support.

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Select Microsoft 365

    Click 'Get Home Support'.

In the box provided, type billing.

Press Enter, then on the next page, scroll down and click 'Sign in to Contact Support'.

Navigate to Microsoft 365 and Office - Manage my Subscription.

Select the 'Chat with support agent in web browser' option
