Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If a payment was taken after cancellation, the supported reasons are:
- The cancellation was too close to the billing date. Cancellations must be made more than 2 days before the billing date.
- A different Microsoft account was used for the subscription.
To check whether another account has the subscription:
- Go to Services & subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Sign in with each personal Microsoft account that might have been used.
- Check for any active subscription, renewal date, or subscription end date.
To investigate the charge details:
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard.
- Select Investigate for the charge.
- Review the common causes of the charge, such as:
- recurring billing was enabled
- a previously declined charge was charged again
- a pre-order or split order shipped
- someone known used the card
- an in-app purchase was made
If the charge is not recognized, contact the bank or payment provider immediately to prevent more charges and report the card as compromised.
For refund eligibility on a Microsoft subscription, cancel the subscription first, then review the refund process. If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or Apple App Store, cancellation or refund must be handled through that store.
