To request a refund for a Microsoft subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, cancel it first and then check whether a refund option appears.

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase.
    2. Find the subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Cancel subscription or Cancel.
    4. Follow the prompts on the cancellation page.
    5. If a refund is available, the option will appear during cancellation or in the account billing/order history experience.

    Important details:

    • Not all cancellations result in a refund.
    • In most cases, a refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
    • A refund of the most recent recurring billing charge may also be available if cancellation happens within 30 days after payment. This is limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.
    • If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage or Cancel, the subscription is already set to expire and no further charge should occur.
    • If the charge is unrecognized, review it on the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard.

If the subscription was purchased through Google Play, the Apple App Store, or a third-party retailer, cancellation and refund must be requested through that seller instead.

If the cancel option is missing:

    • Verify the correct Microsoft personal account is signed in.
    • Check whether there is an overdue balance, because cancellation is blocked until any amount owed is paid.
    • If help is still needed, use Microsoft guided support.

    Hello

If this was via Microsoft directly, Please go to https://account.live.com

Sign into your Microsoft account. Then go to Services. Click on Manage for the subscription plan you want to cancel.

If you signed up during the last 30 days, you might be still within the window to ask for a refund. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

You can reference this detail step by step instruction with screenshots I posted in this thread: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/c/2714817

If it has been more than 30 days, then it depends where you live, you might be qualified for a prorated refund. Check this out: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/countries-with-prorated-refunds-for-microsoft-subscriptions

    ==========

If this is signed up via third party, you will have to contact their support for their refund policy.
