Welcome Tina Cribb,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that your Windows 11 laptop shows "No output device found" and "No input device found," resulting in both audio and microphone functionality being unavailable.
Could you please confirm:
- Did this start after a Windows update, driver update, or any recent system change?
- In Device Manager, do you see any warning icons next to Sound, video and game controllers or Audio inputs and outputs?
In the meantime, you can try these steps:
Option 1: Check the Windows Audio services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
- Locate Windows Audio
- Verify its status is Running
- If it is stopped, right-click it and select Start
- Also verify Windows Audio Endpoint Builder is Running
Option 2: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run: msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
- Follow the on-screen prompts
Option 3: Reinstall the audio driver
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device
- Restart the PC and allow Windows to reinstall the driver
Option 4: Check for system file corruption
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run:
sfc /scannow - After it completes, run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
