For a duplicate Windows purchase, use this path:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account that made the purchase.
- Go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate for the charge if it is unrecognized or appears duplicated.
- Check whether the second charge was caused by:
- a duplicate order
- a previously declined charge being charged again
- a split or separate shipment/order processing
- someone else using the same payment method
- If the duplicate purchase is confirmed, request a refund if the item is eligible.
- For apps and games from Microsoft Store, a refund may be available.
- Digital goods are generally not refundable unless the offer or applicable law says they are eligible.
- If the order has not been charged fully yet or has not shipped, cancel the extra order from Microsoft Store.
- If the charge still cannot be explained, contact Microsoft Support. Avoid filing a chargeback first unless necessary, because repeated misuse of chargebacks can be considered fraud.
If this was a work account purchase, also check for:
- temporary authorization holds that usually clear within 3–5 business days
- separate charges for multiple items
- accidental duplicate orders
