I got charged twice on 9/11/26 for a Windows purchase, but only need one. How can I get a refund for the second purchase.

    Hello

Mistake happens, You can explain it to billing support and they usually would understand and help you process the refund.

This is a public forum, so for your privacy and security, we can’t help with billing issues here. Also, no one in this forum has access to your account or payment information.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Windows" > "Manage my subscription." You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent.

For a duplicate Windows purchase, use this path:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft account that made the purchase.
    2. Go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate for the charge if it is unrecognized or appears duplicated.
    3. Check whether the second charge was caused by:
      • a duplicate order
      • a previously declined charge being charged again
      • a split or separate shipment/order processing
      • someone else using the same payment method
    4. If the duplicate purchase is confirmed, request a refund if the item is eligible.
      • For apps and games from Microsoft Store, a refund may be available.
      • Digital goods are generally not refundable unless the offer or applicable law says they are eligible.
    5. If the order has not been charged fully yet or has not shipped, cancel the extra order from Microsoft Store.
    6. If the charge still cannot be explained, contact Microsoft Support. Avoid filing a chargeback first unless necessary, because repeated misuse of chargebacks can be considered fraud.

If this was a work account purchase, also check for:

    • temporary authorization holds that usually clear within 3–5 business days
    • separate charges for multiple items
    • accidental duplicate orders
