Configuring preferences and options in Outlook.com
If the account was compromised, secure it first, then change the language setting back.
- Run the Microsoft account recovery flow if there is still any sign of unauthorized access: Start.
- After the account is secure, sign in to Outlook on the web and open Settings.
- Go to General > Language and time.
- Under Language (Country/Region), select the preferred language and save the change.
- If the language still does not stay changed, review account settings that are commonly affected after compromise, including connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
If the issue affects the Microsoft account more broadly, not just Outlook on the web, use the account settings page to review and change the account language preferences.
