How to change Plans?

If the goal is to move to a plan with fewer features, the current subscription must be canceled first, then the new plan can be selected.

Steps:

1. Sign in to Subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services using the same Microsoft account tied to the current subscription.
2. Find the current subscription and select Manage.
3. Select Cancel subscription.
4. On the Cancel page, choose the plan with fewer features that fits the need, such as Microsoft 365 Family.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the switch.

Important details:

• The current subscription usually does not change immediately.
• The existing subscription continues until it expires.
• The new plan takes effect automatically at renewal.
• Charges for the new plan start when it renews into that plan.

If the current subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or certain retail partners, subscription changes may need to be handled through that partner instead of Microsoft account services.

If the goal is only to change from annual billing to monthly billing, use Manage > Switch plan. That changes the billing cycle, not the subscription type.
