The senary audio on my Lenovo laptop is not working and says it has been disabled. I did not disable it. All updates have been applied in the past including the latest audio update on 9/4/26. However the audio was working after the 9/4/26 update, but today, 9/15/26 it is not working. How do I fix this?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

What is the model of your Lenovo laptop?

If you prefer, you can share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi Denise Davis,

Just following up on David’s reply. Along with the laptop model he asked for, could you let me know where you’re seeing that Senary Audio is disabled?

Could you also open Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers and see if Senary Audio is listed there? If it is, open Properties > General and let me know what it says under Device status, especially if there’s an error code.

In the meantime, here are a few things you can try:

    1. If you right-click Senary Audio and see Enable device, select it and check if the sound comes back.
    2. Go to Settings > System > Sound and make sure your laptop speakers are still showing and selected under Output.
    3. Press Windows + R, type services.msc and press Enter. Find Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, restart both then test the sound again.
    4. Open Get Help and run the Audio troubleshooter to see if it finds anything.
    5. If there’s still no sound, once you have the exact Lenovo model, check the Lenovo Support page for that model and install the latest Senary Audio driver listed for your version of Windows 11. Restart the laptop afterward and test the sound again.

Since the audio was working after the September 4 update and only stopped later, I’d be particularly interested in what Device status shows now. That should help narrow down what’s going on.

Let me know what you find.
