Domain release from inaccessible tenant

I am the verified owner of the domain cwifl.org and have DNS control through Cloudflare.

Microsoft 365 successfully verifies ownership of the domain, but I receive the following error:

"We have confirmed that you own cwifl.org, but we can't add it to your account because the domain is already added to a different Microsoft 365 organization: cwiflorg.onmicrosoft.com."

I do not have access to that tenant and I am the current registered owner of the domain.

This appears to be a domain-removal/domain-release request involving a tenant that I do not control.

Please escalate this case to the Data Protection or Domain Ownership team for removal of cwifl.org from the existing tenant and provide a service request number.

I can provide proof of domain ownership, Cloudflare DNS access, registrar information, and DNS verification records immediately. `

    Based on the information provided, one important detail is whether the tenant currently holding the domain is unmanaged or managed.

    If cwifl.org and cwiflorg.onmicrosoft.com belong to an unmanaged Microsoft Entra ID tenant that was created through a self-service signup process and does not have an administrator, you may be able to use the Admin takeover of an unmanaged directory process to become the administrator of that tenant and then manage or remove the domain as needed.     If the tenant is a managed tenant with an administrator, you will need to open a Microsoft 365 support ticket so Microsoft can review the domain ownership situation and determine whether a domain release process is available. You can open ticket via Admin Center if you have a tenant already.

    In case you do not have an existing tenant, please create a trial tenant: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business/microsoft-365-business-basic?msockid=3eb6980b5c6860e63a588d0c5d1761d6 - after that you will be able to access to Microsoft 365 Admin Center to raise the ticket. Please mention that you are raising ticket on behalf of the affected tenant that you do not have access to.

    On the other hand, if you do create the trial and it resolves the issue, please remember to cancel the subscription afterward to avoid any related charges.
