A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
For a personal Hotmail/Outlook.com account used with OneDrive, the supported recovery path is:
- Start with the Sign-in Helper to unblock the account or recover sign-in access.
- If the account is blocked because of unusual activity, use the Outlook.com unblock flow.
- If the password recovery still fails, use the Microsoft account recovery form again and provide as much accurate detail as possible.
- Use a working email account for recovery contact. It can be any active email account.
- If a security code is required to unlock the account, any phone number that can receive text messages can be used. It does not need to be associated with the account.
- If the account was recently verified with a security code or there was large file-sharing activity, a temporary OneDrive block can be removed within 24 hours.
Important limits:
- Support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details.
- If two-step verification was turned on and none of the alternate verification methods are available, the account cannot be recovered through support.
For OneDrive specifically, if the message is “Your account is currently unavailable”, check account status or reactivate it through the Microsoft services account reset page and follow the on-screen instructions.
If self-service does not work:
- For personal accounts, use Contact Microsoft Support and enter the problem to get the available support option.
- For Outlook.com, if the self-help steps do not solve the issue or sign-in is not possible, use the Outlook.com support path in the support article.
