Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
After an SSD replacement, Office Home & Student 2016 may no longer appear if Office was not reinstalled with the same Microsoft account that was originally used to activate it.
Try this:
- Go to Services & subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account that was used when Office was first activated.
- Check whether Office Home & Student 2016 appears there.
- If it appears, select Install and reinstall Office from that page.
- After installation, open an Office app and make sure it is signed in with that same Microsoft account.
If Office does not appear in Services & subscriptions, sign out and check any other Microsoft account that may have been used during the original activation. The Office license is tied to the Microsoft account used to set it up.
If Office apps are installed but show activation problems, sign out of all accounts in an Office app, restart the app, and sign back in with the original Microsoft account. If the license is listed in Services & subscriptions but Office still does not activate, run Online Repair from Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Office > Modify > Online Repair.
If this is on a Mac, one-time Office licenses such as Office Home & Student 2016 are not compatible with Office apps downloaded from the Mac App Store. In that case, reinstall Office directly from Microsoft instead.
