Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If the subscription was paid in July 2026 but the apps still say it has lapsed, the usual fix is to verify that the subscription is active on the correct Microsoft account, then refresh the app activation.
- Close all Microsoft 365 apps.
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the Microsoft account used to pay for Microsoft 365.
- Check whether the Microsoft 365 subscription shows as active and confirm the renewal or expiration date is correct.
- If the subscription is active, open an Office app again, go to File > Account, sign out, close the app, reopen it, and sign back in with that same Microsoft account. This refreshes the license in the app.
- If the app still shows the subscription as lapsed, go to the Payment options page and check whether the payment method shows an error. If it does, update it.
- If the subscription was renewed by using a retail box, card, or emailed product key, make sure the product key was actually redeemed. Payment alone does not start the subscription until the key is entered.
- If the renewal date on the account page is correct but the apps still do not update, contact Microsoft Support.
If the apps continue to show subscription warnings and nothing is fixed, Office can go into reduced functionality mode, where documents can still be opened and printed but not edited or created.
