    The computer’s age alone does not determine whether Word can be installed. What matters is its operating system and whether it meets the requirements for your Office version.

    If you already own Microsoft 365 or Office, sign in with the Microsoft account linked to the license, select Install apps, and run the downloaded setup file.

    Please note that the current Microsoft 365 desktop apps for home use require Windows 11, or one of the three most recent macOS versions. If the computer cannot run a supported operating system, you can still use Word for the web through a supported browser.
