Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Use this path to investigate the charge:
- Go to the Microsoft account Manage your payments page and select Investigate.
- Check whether the charge is caused by one of these common cases:
- a subscription with recurring billing enabled
- a purchase by a family member or someone else using the card
- a previously declined charge being retried
- a pre-order or split order being shipped
- an in-app purchase
- Review order history for charges of the same amount or charges that appeared close together.
- If the charge does not appear in the Microsoft account order history, it may be tied to another Microsoft account using the same card.
- If the charge still cannot be identified, contact Microsoft Support through Contact Support.
- If there is any chance the card details were used without permission, contact the bank or card provider immediately and report the card as compromised. Disputing the charge alone does not prevent further fraudulent charges.
If the issue is a cancelled subscription that is still billing, also check whether cancellation happened less than 2 days before the billing date, or whether the charge is on a different Microsoft account.
