Setting up future meetings with participants using Teams calendar or Outlook integration
If Outlook is new Outlook, the Teams meeting link is generated by the built-in Teams meeting toggle in the event window. There is no separate add-in to install.
Check these first:
- Sign in to Outlook and Teams with the same work or school account.
- Make sure the new Teams client is being used.
- In a new calendar event, turn on the Teams meeting toggle.
If the toggle is missing or the link still is not generated, reinitiate the integration:
- Close Outlook.
- Right-click the Teams icon in the toolbar and select Quit Teams.
- Start Teams and sign in.
- Start Outlook.
If this is classic Outlook for Windows, the Teams Meeting add-in may have become disabled. Also ensure the device has .NET Framework 4.8 and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime installed, because missing either can contribute to the Teams add-in becoming disabled.
Verification steps:
- WebView2: Check Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features for Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
- .NET 4.8: The documented verification method is through the registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Fulland checking the Release value. Warning: Registry changes are risky; use it only to verify, not to modify, unless guided by official documentation.
If the Outlook account is an Outlook.com account with Teams for home or small business, the Teams Meeting add-in in Outlook Desktop does not work for creating Teams meetings. In that case, create the meeting in the Teams web app or the Teams for home or small business desktop app instead; those meetings synchronize to the Outlook Desktop calendar.
