Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Yes. For a personal account billing charge, the supported path is Contact Microsoft Support and request Contact Support after entering the problem.
For the $99 attempted charge, the most likely causes listed are:
- A Microsoft subscription has recurring billing enabled.
- Someone known to the cardholder bought something with the card.
- A previously declined charge was charged again.
- A pre-order or split order was shipped.
- An in-app purchase was made from an app, game, or Office.
To investigate it:
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard.
- Select Investigate for the unrecognized charge.
- Also check Order History on Microsoft accounts that may be associated with the card.
- If the charge is found and it is an unwanted renewal, review the subscription and billing settings such as recurring billing.
If the charge does not appear on the expected account, it may be tied to a different Microsoft account or to a family member or friend who has the card linked.
If there is concern that the payment information was compromised, contact the bank or payment provider to prevent more charges. Simply disputing the charge does not prevent additional fraudulent charges.
To reach a person, use Contact Microsoft Support: enter the billing problem, select Get Help, and then select Contact Support to be routed to the best support option, which may include chat or a requested call.
