Hello, I am having a problem with Microsoft Authenticator. I cannot complete the authentication process for my Microsoft 365 student account. I know my password, but I cannot complete the verification step, so I cannot access my account. I have tried to authenticate using the Microsoft Authenticator app, but it does not work. Could you please help me recover access to my account and resolve the authentication issue?

    Dear @Abdellah Lamrani

I understand how frustrating it can be to know your password but still be unable to access your Microsoft 365 student account because the verification step cannot be completed.

Since this is a student/school account, the most appropriate solution depends on how your university has configured MFA. If Microsoft Authenticator is no longer working, I recommend trying these steps first:

    1. On the Microsoft 365 sign-in page, select “Other ways to sign in” or “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”, if available.
    2. Try another verification method that your school has enabled, such as SMS, phone call, or a security key.
    3. If no alternative method is available, you will need to contact your school’s IT Help Desk/Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to reset your MFA/security information or require you to re-register Microsoft Authenticator. As an Independent Advisor, I cannot reset MFA or change authentication methods for your school’s tenant.
    4. After the administrator resets your MFA, sign in again and register Microsoft Authenticator when prompted.

You can also review Microsoft’s official guidance here: Common problems with two-step verification

If you tell me what happens when you select Microsoft Authenticator (for example, whether you receive the notification, see a number-matching prompt, or get a specific error message), I can help narrow down the issue.
