Hello,

I need assistance paying an outstanding Azure invoice and regaining access to my Azure subscription.

My invoice is showing a Locked status, and the Azure portal does not give me a normal Pay now or Settle balance option. My Azure subscription also does not currently appear under the Subscriptions page.

I would like to pay any legitimate outstanding balance on the account and have my Azure subscription restored so I can access my existing Azure resources.

Please review my billing account and let me know:

  1. Whether I currently have an outstanding balance.
  2. The exact amount that needs to be paid.
  3. How I can make the payment since the invoice is locked.
  4. Whether my existing Azure subscription and resources can be restored after payment.

I have already attempted to resolve this through the Azure billing portal, but the invoice remains locked and I cannot complete the payment myself.

Thank you.

A Locked invoice typically means the payment can’t be completed in the Azure portal and requires Azure Support assistance.

    Supported actions:

    1. Check for any unpaid invoice in the Azure portal:
      • Sign in to the Azure portal.
      • Go to Cost Management + Billing > Invoices.
      • If an invoice is due or past due, a Settle balance link appears for pay-as-you-go accounts, or Pay now appears for eligible Microsoft Customer Agreement invoices.
      • If neither option is available and the invoice is locked, create a billing support request.
    2. If the subscription is missing from Subscriptions:
      • A past-due balance can disable the subscription.
      • After the balance is paid, reactivation can take up to 24 hours.
    3. Important billing limits and conditions:
      • Only the account administrator can settle a past-due balance for a pay-as-you-go account.
      • If multiple subscriptions used the same failed credit card and are all past due, the entire outstanding balance must be paid at once.
      • The credit card used to settle the balance becomes the new default payment method for subscriptions that used the failed payment method.
    4. Because the invoice is locked and self-service payment is unavailable:
      • Create a billing support request in the Azure portal through Help + Support > Create a support request.
      • Select Billing as the issue type.
      • Billing support can assist with locked invoices and payment completion.
    5. Restoration of subscription and resources:
      • If the subscription was disabled because payment wasn’t received, paying the outstanding charges can restore it.
      • Reactivation can take up to 24 hours after payment.
      • If the subscription was canceled and the account is the Account Administrator or subscription Owner, it can be reactivated in the Azure portal by going to Subscriptions, selecting the canceled subscription, and choosing Reactivate.

The exact outstanding amount and current account balance can only be confirmed in Cost Management + Billing > Invoices or by Azure Billing Support for a locked invoice case.
