I am the parent/family organizer for my child's Microsoft/Xbox account.

Account details:

  • Original sign-in alias was an iCloud address (Microsoft recovery now says it does not exist / is not recognized) — not posting the address publicly
  • Gamertag: [--PII REMOVED--]
  • Xbox profile now displays as [--PII REMOVED--] and was observed Online
  • PC device ID used with the account: [--PII REMOVED--]
  • Takeover on/about [--PII REMOVED--]

What the attacker did (we have Microsoft security + Family Safety emails):

  • Deleted a Passkey
  • Added an Identity verification (Authenticator) app we do not control
  • Changed age / removed parental controls
  • Removed the account from our Microsoft Family group

Support history:

  • Case [--PII REMOVED--] closed within about an hour incorrectly
  • Xbox live chat reference [--PII REMOVED--] — agent said they cannot escalate compromised account cases; pointed only to ACSR
  • Microsoft Account support assistant only offered community help
  • ACSR fails for the original alias; live: [--PII REMOVED--] inconsistent/blocked

Ask:

Please escalate for human Account Safety / child safeguarding review. This is unauthorized control of a minor's account. I can provide emails and identifiers privately to Microsoft staff.

    Hi Elisha Karan,

Please note that our Microsoft Q&A forum is a public platform, and we will modify your response/ question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I’m very sorry to hear about what happened to your account. I can understand how concerning and frustrating this must be, especially after seeing the account details changed, family settings removed, and multiple support channels unable to provide a resolution. Based on the information you've shared, it does appear that the account may have been compromised and that security information associated with the account was changed by someone who was not authorized to do so.

Unfortunately, this is a community forum and we do not have access to Microsoft account records, security data, or account recovery systems. Community members and moderators cannot verify ownership, restore aliases, remove authentication methods, or recover access to accounts on behalf of users.

Regarding your interaction with Xbox Support, the agent's response is consistent with Microsoft’s support boundaries. Support representatives are generally unable to manually restore ownership of a Microsoft account or override account security controls. For account compromise cases, they must rely on the automated account ownership verification and recovery processes, including the Account Recovery system (ACSR). If the account cannot be successfully verified through those channels, support agents typically do not have the ability to manually bypass the verification requirements.

I realize this is likely not the outcome you were hoping for. I'm sorry that we cannot provide more direct assistance through the community. I sincerely hope the information and evidence you've gathered help the appropriate Microsoft teams review the situation further.

Good luck, and I truly hope you're able to regain access to the account.
