Hi Support,

I have a Microsoft account replace the license from E3 to plan 1 (which is without OneDrive). After somedays that OneDrive account is unable to access and it shows OneDrive is archived. I have replaced a valid E3 license to this account. May I know how long it will take to reactive the OneDrive from archived?

If the archived OneDrive still has an associated user, assigning a valid license that includes OneDrive causes the account to automatically reactivate within 24 to 48 hours.

    Related timing details:

    • If reactivation is triggered through Microsoft 365 Archive access, the account can take up to 24 hours to become accessible.
    • After reactivation, the account stays active for 30 days before it is automatically archived again, unless Standard storage is used to keep it active longer.

Since the license was already changed back to E3, the expected reactivation window is 24–48 hours.

    Hello Walter Tan,

    Thank you for your question.

The archived status is related to the period during which the account did not have a license that included OneDrive. Under the unlicensed OneDrive account lifecycle, an account may be placed into read-only mode after 60 days and archived after 93 days without a valid license

Since you have reassigned a valid Microsoft 365 E3 license, please first confirm that the SharePoint or OneDrive service plan is enabled for the user under Microsoft 365 admin center > Users > Active users > Licenses and apps.

Once a valid license has been assigned, the OneDrive account will normally be reactivated automatically. This process may take approximately 24 to 48 hours to complete.

For more information about archived and unlicensed OneDrive accounts, please refer to the following Microsoft article: Manage unlicensed OneDrive user accounts - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn

I understand that regaining access to the stored files is important, and I hope the account will become available again shortly.

    Kind regards,
