Outlook does not show attached snapshots anymore. I did not change any setting and it was working 15 minutes ago. Re-booting did not help.

If the missing snapshots are image attachments inside messages in classic Outlook for Windows, first check whether Outlook has gone into offline mode.

    1. In Outlook, open Send/Receive.
    2. Select Work Offline once.
    3. Confirm the button is no longer shaded and the status bar no longer shows Working Offline or Disconnected.

If Outlook is already online, test whether an add-in is interfering:

    1. Press Windows key + R.
    2. Start Outlook in Safe Mode.
    3. Open a message that should show the snapshots.
    4. If the images appear in Safe Mode, an Outlook add-in or security software integration is likely causing the problem.

    Also check this Windows setting:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Open Internet Options.
    3. Go to Advanced.
    4. Make sure Do not save encrypted pages to disk is not selected.
    5. Restart Outlook and test again.

If the issue is specifically that attached files are not visible in a message you are composing, and the message is in Plain Text format, Outlook can hide the attachment from the Attached line even though the recipient still receives it. In that case:

    1. In a new message, open Format Text.
    2. Select HTML in the Format group.
    3. To make this the default, go to File > Options > Mail and set Compose messages in this format to HTML.

If this started after an Office update, check the Office build and update Outlook:

    1. Open Outlook or another Office app.
    2. Go to File > Office Account or Account.
    3. Check the version under Office Updates.
    4. Select Update Options > Update Now.

    Hi @Teamsohe,

To help narrow down the cause of the issue, could you please provide a bit more information?

    • Are the snapshots missing completely, or are the attachments still visible but no longer previewing?
    • How were the snapshots added to the email, for example, by pressing Ctrl + V, dragging and dropping them into the message, or attaching them as image files?
    • Does this affect all emails or only messages from a specific sender?
    • Do the snapshots appear if you open the same email in Outlook on the web (OWA)?

Meanwhile, please try updating Office by going to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now, as some Outlook image and attachment display issues have been resolved through recent Office updates.

You can also test Outlook in Safe Mode by pressing Windows + R, typing outlook.exe /safe, and then opening one of the affected emails.

If the snapshots appear correctly in Safe Mode, that would suggest an Outlook add-in may be interfering with attachment preview functionality. In that case, you can go to File> Options > section Add-ins and temporarily disable any recently installed or non-essential add-ins, then restart Outlook and test again to see whether the issue persists.

If you have any updates after reviewing the questions above and trying the suggested troubleshooting steps, please let me know the results. The additional information will help me better understand the behavior and determine the most appropriate next troubleshooting steps.

    Thank you for your time.
