Hi, I'm currently paying for a separate Outlook subscription at $21.31 per year and have recently started a Microsoft 365 subscription, which includes Outlook. Please advise on how I could get a prorated refund or credit for the unused portion of the Outlook subscription term. Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hello Galina Pilmenstein,

It sounds like you now have two separate subscriptions providing overlapping Outlook.com benefits. A prorated refund is not guaranteed because eligibility depends on the subscription, purchase date, billing country, and where it was purchased. You can review the details here: Microsoft subscription refund policy.

I recommend trying the steps below:

    1. Sign in to Services & subscriptions using the Microsoft account that purchased the separate Outlook subscription.
    2. Find that subscription, select Manage, and then choose Cancel. During cancellation, the page should automatically show whether a full or prorated refund is available before you complete it.
    3. If you only see Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set not to renew. You can continue using it until its expiry date, but no automatic refund option is currently available.

If no refund is offered, contact Microsoft Support and ask an agent to review whether a credit or exception is possible. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so we cannot view the account, cancel subscriptions, or approve refunds.

Note: If the Outlook subscription was purchased through Apple, Google Play, or another retailer, the refund request must be made through that seller.

Here's how to reach out to the Microsoft Support Team (live chat):

    1.  Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, then choose "Get Help"
    3. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

    Tips:

    • Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.
    • If the support page directs you to the automated assistant, type “I need a live agent” in the chat.

Hopefully your issue will be sorted out soon Thank you so much for your patience!
