To make the PC your own without affecting your daughter’s Microsoft account on other devices, create a new user account on this laptop, sign in to that new account, and then remove your daughter’s account from this PC.

If the account is tied up with Family Safety restrictions, first go to Settings > Accounts > Family and sign out of the child account there. Then sign in with the parent account in Your family. After that, go to Settings > Accounts > Your info and switch to a local account if needed.

If Family Safety restrictions still remain on the current profile, create a new local administrator account:

    1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
    2. Select Add someone else to this PC.
    3. Choose I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
    4. Choose Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    5. Create the new account, then change it to Administrator.
    6. Sign out and sign in to the new account.
    7. Copy personal files you need from the old profile folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos.
    8. Do not copy the hidden AppData folder, because it can carry over the same profile problems.
    9. Once everything needed is moved, remove the old account from the PC to free space.

This removes the account from this device only. It does not delete the Microsoft account itself.

If you want to keep your daughters account on the PC and create your own user account in Windows, these are the steps.

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Accounts - Other Users.

    Click 'Add Account'.

Then work through that process to create a new user account and add your own Microsoft account details.

Or if you want to switch the current user profile from your daughters Microsoft account to your own Microsoft account.

In the Settings App, go to Accounts - Your Info.

In there, you should see the option to 'Switch to a local Account' or the option to 'Stop automatically logging into apps with this account'.

Select whichever of those options are available.

That will switch the user account to a Local Account, you can then add the details of your Microsoft account to that user profile.
