Hello,

I had an invite for a share folder from a business account to my personal account but i can not sign in and access the folder, as I do not receive any notification on authenticator app on my phone.

I have tried to delete the app and re install ,change the wi fi connection, and sign out and re sign in to my account but still have the same issue. Also I have asked the company to remove my access and give me the access again but it never work

I would really appreciate your support

    Hello @Moroj Adil,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, it sounds like your personal account has been added as a guest account in the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant to access the shared folder. Since the sign-in process is failing at the Microsoft Authenticator verification step, and reinstalling the app, changing networks, signing out/in, and having the organization resend the invitation did not resolve the issue, the problem may be related to the MFA registration associated with your guest account in their tenant.

I would recommend contacting the IT administrator of the organization that shared the folder with you and asking them to review and reset the MFA registration for your guest account.

You can share the following guidance with their administrator:

Reset MFA settings for the guest account in Microsoft Entra Admin Center

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center with an administrator account.
    2. Go to Users.
    3. Locate and select the guest user account that corresponds to your personal email address.
    4. Open Authentication methods.
    5. Select Revoke sessions.
    6. Select Require re-register MFA.
    7. Save the changes.

The administrator can refer to this article for detailed instructions: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…

After the reset is completed, ask the administrator to have you sign in again and complete the MFA registration process when prompted.

If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is , you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.

Thank you again for your time and understanding. I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.

    Try these checks in order:

    1. Make sure Microsoft Authenticator is unlocked on the phone. If the app is locked, the approval prompt might not appear.
    2. In the phone settings, verify that notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator and are not set to silent.
    3. Open Authenticator and confirm the app opens normally and the account is still listed.
    4. Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version. Versions older than 12 months are not supported.
    5. Check connectivity again by switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, and make sure Airplane mode is off.
    6. Verify the phone date and time are correct.
    7. If battery optimization is enabled for Authenticator, turn it off for better sync performance.
    8. If a VPN is in use, disconnect it and test again.
    9. Restart the phone, then try the sign-in again.

If the prompt still does not arrive, check whether a code was delivered silently by text message instead of a push notification.

If none of that works, send the app logs for diagnostics: open Authenticator, go to the app’s top-level menu, and select Send feedback.

Because the shared folder access is coming from a business account, if the issue continues the business tenant’s IT admin should investigate the Microsoft Entra sign-in logs and help with the sign-in method or MFA configuration.
