how do I get more time in copilot

Copilot in Word uses AI credits in Microsoft 365 subscriptions. When those credits are used up, Copilot features in Word can slow down or stop until the credits refresh.

What to do:

1. Check the AI credit balance for the subscription:
   • Go to account.microsoft.com/services
   • Find the Microsoft 365 subscription
   • Select Manage
   • Look for the AI credit balance
2. Confirm the account using Word is the subscription owner:
   • In shared Microsoft 365 Family or Premium plans, Copilot in the desktop apps is limited to the subscription owner.
3. If the credits are exhausted, the supported options are:
   • Wait for the monthly AI credits to refresh
   • Reduce heavy AI usage
   • Upgrade to a higher plan with larger AI limits, such as Microsoft 365 Premium
4. A recent payment does not mean AI credits reset immediately. AI credits refresh on their cycle, and reinstalling or repaying does not restore them mid-cycle.

It is also expected that Copilot may still work in some entry points, such as the standalone Copilot app or website, while Copilot inside Word is limited by AI credits.
