Since earlier this year, I have been unable to download and install this update, KB5120994, and it has been irritating as my Windows and laptop, a school Personal-Learning-Device (PLD), has been slowing down because of this. I've tried Windows Troubleshooter but I am unable to log in to my Microsoft account, my students account, as it says the account cannot be found. I do not have access to Win + R as my PLD does not have Administator access.

    Hi Zhang,

Please save your work, restart the laptop, then open Settings > Windows Update and select Retry or Check for updates, if available.

KB5120994 is a Hotpatch update. Microsoft delivers it through Windows Update and does not provide a standalone download in the Update Catalog: https://support.microsoft.com/help/5120994.

If it remains stuck at 6%, I recommend contacting your school’s IT support. Since your PLD is managed and administrator access is restricted, ask them to check its Hotpatch eligibility, update policies, and download failure logs. Include screenshots of the stuck update and the school-account sign-in error so they can investigate both issues.
