Adobe Acrobat is not converting documents into PDF's

If the failure happens from the Acrobat tab or Save as Adobe PDF inside Word, that function is added by Adobe Acrobat, not by Word. Microsoft guidance for Acrobat-tab conversion problems is to use Adobe support for that add-in.

A supported workaround in Word is to create the PDF by using Word’s built-in PDF export instead:

1. Open the document in Word.
2. Go to Export > Create PDF/XPS Document > Create PDF/XPS.
3. Choose where to save the file.
4. Select Publish.

If the issue started after installing an older Adobe Acrobat 7.0 version, a known compatibility issue can affect Word. In that case:

1. Check whether an Acrobat 7.0 update is available from Adobe.
2. If needed, remove the Adobe PDFMaker Office add-in from Acrobat setup:
   • Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
   • Select Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 > Change
   • Choose Modify
   • Expand Create Adobe PDF > Acrobat PDFMaker
   • Set Microsoft Office to Not installed

Note: removing the Adobe add-in means Office programs will no longer use that Adobe add-in to save directly as PDF.

If Word itself can export to PDF successfully but Acrobat cannot, the problem is with the Adobe add-in rather than Word.
