Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
- Check whether the subscription is billed by Microsoft or by a third party.
- Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
- If the subscription shows Manage, Cancel, or Change payment, it is billed by Microsoft.
- If no management options appear, or the subscription was bought through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, billing must be managed with that provider directly. Microsoft cannot cancel, refund, or modify third-party billed subscriptions.
- Investigate the charge directly from the payment side.
- Go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate.
- Common causes include recurring billing being enabled, a family member using the card, a retried previously declined charge, pre-orders, split orders, or in-app purchases.
- If the Gmail address receives receipts but shows no subscription, check all possible accounts.
- Sign in to any other Microsoft accounts that may have been used for the purchase.
- If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or Apple, check those store accounts as well.
- A receipt going to Gmail does not guarantee that the Gmail address is the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
- If the subscription is found under Microsoft billing, cancel it from the subscription page.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services.
- Select Manage for the subscription.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel and follow the prompts.
- If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and no further billing should occur after the shown date.
- If charges continue after cancellation, verify timing.
- A cancellation must be made more than 2 days before the billing date.
- Check the subscription end date on Services & subscriptions.
- If the charge still cannot be matched to any account, contact Microsoft Support and ask them to trace the subscription using the payment transaction details.
- Use Contact Microsoft Support, enter the billing problem, select Get Help, then Contact Support.
- If the charge appears unauthorized or the payment method may be compromised, contact the bank or payment provider immediately to prevent additional charges. Disputing a charge alone does not stop future fraudulent charges.
