subscription account and billing issue

I'm being charged for a recurring Microsoft subscription plan and receiving email receipts in my Gmail, but I cannot find my subscription account with Microsoft, so I'm paying for an account and plan that I don't have. When I use the Gmail account that receives the receipts to log into Microsoft, there is still no subscription associated with that account and no billing information, so I can't cancel the charge, can't find where it's coming from, and can't figure out how to stop the payments.

Hello. Thanks for reaching out. My name is Diana. I'm an independent advisor and a Microsoft fan like you.

Kindly note that this community is composed of fellow Microsoft users and we are not Microsoft employees and do not have access to tools or systems to review transactions or account details.

For your billing issue, I recommend to directly contact Microsoft support specifically with Accounts and Billing department.

To do that, please refer to the steps below:

    1. Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus and sign in your Microsoft account
    2. On the "Tell us your problem so we can get you the right help and support" - just type "Billing issue" then search
    3. You will see Recommended Solution, just scroll down until you can see "Contact support"
    4. Under "Tell us a little more about your problem", select "Microsoft 365 and Office"
    5. For Category select > manage my subscription > then confirm
    6. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser
    7. Confirm your account and you should be routed to Microsoft support representative who have the appropriate tools and resources to investigate and assist you further with the billing concern.

    1. Check whether the subscription is billed by Microsoft or by a third party.
      • Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
      • If the subscription shows Manage, Cancel, or Change payment, it is billed by Microsoft.
      • If no management options appear, or the subscription was bought through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, billing must be managed with that provider directly. Microsoft cannot cancel, refund, or modify third-party billed subscriptions.
    2. Investigate the charge directly from the payment side.
      • Go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate.
      • Common causes include recurring billing being enabled, a family member using the card, a retried previously declined charge, pre-orders, split orders, or in-app purchases.
    3. If the Gmail address receives receipts but shows no subscription, check all possible accounts.
      • Sign in to any other Microsoft accounts that may have been used for the purchase.
      • If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or Apple, check those store accounts as well.
      • A receipt going to Gmail does not guarantee that the Gmail address is the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
    4. If the subscription is found under Microsoft billing, cancel it from the subscription page.
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Select Manage for the subscription.
      • Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel and follow the prompts.
      • If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and no further billing should occur after the shown date.
    5. If charges continue after cancellation, verify timing.
      • A cancellation must be made more than 2 days before the billing date.
      • Check the subscription end date on Services & subscriptions.
    6. If the charge still cannot be matched to any account, contact Microsoft Support and ask them to trace the subscription using the payment transaction details.
    7. If the charge appears unauthorized or the payment method may be compromised, contact the bank or payment provider immediately to prevent additional charges. Disputing a charge alone does not stop future fraudulent charges.
