Switching from Microsoft 365 Personal to Family

To switch from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family, there is no separate in-product “switch” button required.

Do this instead:

1. Buy the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
2. Use the same Microsoft account as the current Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.
3. Start using Family benefits right away.
4. The remaining days on the Personal subscription are automatically converted and added to the new Family subscription.

For Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family, the remaining time converts at 92%.

Important details:

• A Microsoft account can have only one active Microsoft 365 subscription.
• Adding another subscription does not increase storage per user or device sign-in limits beyond the Family plan benefits; it changes the subscription and extends time.
• Microsoft 365 Family can be used by up to six people.
• Each person can install Microsoft 365 on all their devices and be signed in to five devices at a time.

If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or certain retail partners, subscription changes may need to be managed through that partner, and switching options may not be available directly.
