Recommendation for Outlook

Hello, Outlook team I’d like to suggest adjusting the placement of the flag icon in the inbox. Right now, the flag button is very close to the delete button, and it’s easy to accidentally delete messages when trying to flag them. Moving the flag icon farther away or creating more visual spacing between the two buttons would help reduce accidental deletions and improve usability.

    Hi Ashley,

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your feedback about the placement of the flag and delete icons in Classic Outlook for Windows. Having these icons close together can make it easier to delete a message accidentally when attempting to flag it.

There is no documented setting in Classic Outlook for Windows to move the flag icon farther away from the delete button or add permanent extra spacing between those message-list actions.

A supported way to submit this product suggestion is:

    1. In Outlook, go to File > Feedback > Send Feedback.
    2. Describe that the flag and delete buttons are too close in the inbox and that more spacing would reduce accidental deletions.

    Related documented behavior:

    • In recent Outlook UI behavior, the flag icon in the message list appears on hover by default.
    • There is no built-in setting documented to keep the flag permanently visible in that view.
