Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If your Microsoft 365 Personal/Family subscription is still active until April 2027, changing your password should not cancel the subscription. The immediate issue is recovering access to the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
Microsoft’s recommended recovery path is the Sign-in Helper, followed by password recovery if required. Microsoft Support
Do this first
Open Microsoft's official Sign-in Helper: Microsoft Account Sign-in Helper
Enter the same Microsoft account email address that you used for Microsoft 365.
Follow the verification prompts.
If Microsoft offers a verification method you can access, obtain the code and create a new password. Microsoft Support
After recovering the account, check your Microsoft 365 subscription from: Microsoft Account Services & subscriptions
If you changed the password but the new password is rejected
Use Microsoft's account recovery process rather than repeatedly attempting to sign in:
If you no longer have access to the displayed recovery email/phone, Microsoft directs you to the Sign-in Helper and, where applicable, the account recovery form. Microsoft Support
Important: if Microsoft says the account is "locked"
That's different from simply forgetting the password. Microsoft says a locked account can require a security-code verification or an account reinstatement process. Microsoft Support
If your subscription is actually a Work/School Microsoft 365 account
If the account is something like ******@company.com, rather than a personal outlook.com, hotmail.com, etc., the recovery process is different. A work/school account may require the organization's administrator to reset your password. learn.microsoft.com
