    To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

    1 = Where did you get the driver installer from? (Official HP site, Windows Update, or HP Smart app?)

    2 = How does the scanner appear in Device Manager right now? (Does it have a yellow warning icon, or show up as "Unknown Device"?)

    • Right-click the Start menu and select "Device Manager";
    • Check under both "Imaging devices" and "Other devices";
    • Does the scanner show up with a yellow exclamation mark, listed as an "Unknown Device", or with its full name?
