For classic Outlook for Windows, change the default font size for new outgoing messages like this:

    1. Press Alt+F, T to open Outlook Options.
    2. Go to Mail.
    3. Select Stationery and Fonts.
    4. Under Personal Stationery, choose the setting for new email messages.
    5. In the Font dialog, move to Size, enter the size wanted, and confirm with Enter.
    6. Select OK to save in Signatures and Stationery.
    7. Select OK again in Outlook Options.

If the text is only small while composing, but the sent message looks normal, the compose window zoom may be reduced. In that case, while composing, press Alt+H, F, S, type a larger size, and press Enter.

    Dear @Joseph Chakra,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description, I'd like to suggest the following steps to increase the font size for Classic Outlook:

    • Open Outlook
    • Select File > Options > Mail
    • Click Stationery and Fonts
    • Under New mail messages, select Font
    • Choose your preferred font size and click OK
    • Save the changes and create a new email to test

As has been suggested, you can change the actual point size of the text you use in your e-mails.

Sometimes, you just want the text to display a bit larger. You can change the zoom for the text in the reading pane. Click the percentage icon at the bottom right, next to the Zoom slider, and adjust the zoom. To save your choice, click the "Remember my preference" option.

    See the screen shot below.

Similarly, you can change the zoom in a message which you are composing. Create a new mail and make sure it is open in a separate window. On the Format Text tab, click Zoom. In the Zoom While Composing dialog box, set your preferred zoom.
