Since the printer still works from the iPhone and iPad, the printer itself and the network are likely working. Focus on the Windows laptop.

    1. Restart the printer.
      • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
      • Wait 30 seconds.
      • Plug it back in and turn it on.
    2. Check the laptop-to-printer connection.
      • If it is a wireless printer, make sure the printer’s wireless option is turned on.
      • If the home has multiple Wi-Fi networks, access points, or extenders, make sure the laptop is connected to the same network as the printer.
      • If it is USB-connected, make sure the cable is firmly connected.
    3. Run the Windows printer troubleshooter.
      • Open Settings.
      • Select Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer, then select More devices and printer settings.
      • Right-click the printer and select Troubleshoot.
      • Follow the wizard.
    4. Update or reinstall the printer driver.
      • Select Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Printers.
      • Right-click the printer and select Update driver.
      • If no update is found, select Uninstall device.
      • Restart the laptop so Windows can try to reinstall the driver automatically.
    5. Remove and add the printer again.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer and choose Remove.
      • Then select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts.
    6. Make sure the printer is set as default.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer > Manage > Set as default.
    7. Restart the app and the laptop.
      • Close the app being used to print.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Open the app again and try printing.
    8. If printing from Office apps, update Office.
      • In an Office app, select File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
      • Also run Microsoft Update.
    9. Check the printer manufacturer’s site for the latest driver for the exact HP model.

If the laptop is on a managed network, contact the administrator.
