Office Home and Student 2021 remains Unlicensed after reinstall and Online Repair

I have a genuine Office Home and Student 2021 license that came with my ASUS X415 laptop. The license is clearly listed in my Microsoft account under “Products you’ve purchased” as “Office Home and Student 2021”, added to my account in April 2022.

Microsoft Word was working normally until recently. It suddenly changed to “Unlicensed Product” and became View Only, so I cannot edit or save Word documents.

I have already:

  1. Confirmed that the Office Home and Student 2021 license is present in my Microsoft account.

Reinstalled Office using the Install option from my Microsoft account.

Restarted the computer.

Performed an Online Repair of Microsoft Office as recommended in Microsoft Q&A.

However, Word still shows “Unlicensed Product” and editing remains disabled.

I do NOT want to purchase another license. I need help restoring/activating my existing genuine Office Home and Student 2021 license associated with my Microsoft account.

Could someone please advise how I can correctly reactivate my existing Office Home and Student 2021 license, or check whether there is an activation/account-association problem?

You should be able to sign in to an Office app to activate the suite.

Since this is a one-time purchase (perpetual) license, see also https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/activation/activate-microsoft-perpetual-products-using-the-product-activation-portal .
