Two personal Microsoft accounts cannot be merged into one, but we can check which account has each subscription and whether one is a duplicate.

Please sign in to each Microsoft account separately and check: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Then, to help narrow this down:

What Microsoft 365 subscription is listed under each account, such as Personal or Family?
What expiration or renewal date is shown for each subscription?
Do you see separate charges for both subscriptions here: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders? You may need to change the date range in Order history to see the older payments.

Once you know which subscription belongs to each account, you can work out which one to keep and what to do with the duplicate.

Microsoft personal accounts cannot be merged into one account. The practical way to reconcile two accounts with duplicated subscriptions is to identify which account has the subscription to keep, then cancel the other subscription.

Steps:

Sign in to Services & subscriptions with each account separately and check which account shows the active Microsoft 365 subscription that should be kept.
On the account that is not needed, select Manage > Cancel subscription.
If duplicate charges are suspected, review the order history for multiple purchases of the same amount close together.
If only one charge appears in one account’s order history, use Payment options > Investigate to check whether another Microsoft account is using the same card.
If files or purchases exist on the account that will no longer be used, move them manually before closing anything. Subscriptions cannot be moved between accounts.

Important:

Accounts remain separate even if owned by the same person.
Canceling a subscription stops future charges, but does not delete the account or its data.
If the duplicated sign-in prompt is caused by both a personal account and a work or school account using the same email address, the prompt can be reduced by changing the personal account’s primary alias in Manage how you sign in.
