If the two charges are for the same subscription, first confirm whether it was a true duplicate charge or a late retry plus the normal payment. Microsoft notes that if a payment was previously declined, the retry and the next on-time payment can appear very close together.
Steps:
- Check order history and look for two purchases of the same amount close together: Review your order history
- If only one charge appears in order history, check whether another Microsoft account using the same card was charged. In Payment options, select Investigate: Go to payment options
- If the charge is unexpected, use the billing charge investigation flow: Start
- If the extra charge is tied to a subscription renewal, refund eligibility is determined during cancellation. Sign in, go to Services & subscriptions, select the subscription, then Manage > Cancel. During cancellation, Microsoft will show whether a refund is available. Sign in
- If the subscription was bought from Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Best Buy, or another third-party seller, the refund must be requested from that seller, not Microsoft.
- If help is still needed, contact Microsoft Support: Contact Microsoft Support
