OneDrive data recovery after storage warning email

On May 4, 2026 I received “Urgent action required to not lose access”. Microsoft 365 subscription was not renewed. Today (Sep 9, 2026) my OneDrive files are gone / inaccessible. Please check if my OneDrive data can still be restored from Microsoft retention/backup.

    If you previously had a Microsoft 365 subscription, and did not renew that since May 4 2026 to maintain the 1TB of OneDrive storage, if your files on OneDrive exceeds the free 5GB of OneDrive storage that comes with a Microsoft account, your files on OneDrive online would have been deleted automatically by the system.

    Do you have a local copy of your files on your PC, or were they only stored on OneDrive.
