    Hi,

It is not clear, I am afraid, whether you are seeking help for New Outlook or Classic Outlook.

    Classic Outlook

In Classic Outlook for Microsoft 365, to add a word to the dictionary:

    • Open a new email and type the word.
    • Right-click the word that is underlined in red.
    • Select Add to Dictionary.

If you want to manage the custom dictionary:

    • Go to File > Options > Mail > Spelling and AutoCorrect.
    • Select Proofing > Custom Dictionaries.
    • Select CUSTOM.DIC and click Edit Word List to add or remove words manually.

    New Outlook

In New Outlook, when a word is flagged as misspelled, right-click it and select Add to dictionary. This adds the word to your custom dictionary. There is no equivalent of Custom Dictionary addition, although.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Wishing you good luck!

    Hi @Tony Blackburn

At the same time will update in both word and outlook.

    Method 1 — Right‑click the word

    Type the word

    Right‑click the red‑underlined word

    1. Select Add to Dictionary

That’s it — now Outlook emails will also stop marking it as wrong.

Method 2 — Add via Outlook settings

    1. Open Outlook
    2. Go to File → Options
    3. Select Mail
    4. Click Spelling and Autocorrect
    5. Click Proofing
    6. Click Custom Dictionaries
    7. Select CUSTOM.DIC
    8. Click Edit Word List
    9. Add your word → Add → OK

Add a word manually to the dictionary file

If you want to add many words:

    Press Win + R

    Type:

    Code

    %appdata%\Microsoft\UProof

    Open CUSTOM.DIC

Add your words (one per line)

    1. Save

    Thanks.
