Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
This charge pattern can happen for a few documented reasons:
- A previously declined charge was charged again.
- Recurring billing is enabled on a subscription.
- Another Microsoft account may be using the same card.
- A cancellation may have happened too close to the billing date. Microsoft states cancellations must be made more than 2 days before the billing date.
Recommended next steps:
- Check order history and look for multiple purchases with the same amount close together: Review your order history
- If the charge does not appear in that account’s order history, go to Payment options and select Investigate to search for other accounts using the same card: Go to payment options
- If this started after a trial, check Services & subscriptions and confirm whether recurring billing is still on or whether the subscription end date is later than expected.
- If the charge is unrecognized or keeps repeating, use the billing troubleshooter: Start
- If fraudulent use of the card is suspected, contact the bank or payment provider and report the card as stolen or compromised, not only as a disputed charge, to help prevent more charges.
- If the issue is still unresolved, contact Microsoft Support: Contact Microsoft Support
Important: repeated chargebacks can be considered misuse or fraud. For a game or app purchase issue, Microsoft recommends contacting support directly instead of repeatedly disputing charges through the bank.
