I can’t log into my account. Asks for Authenticator code and when I open the app, it asks for an Authenticator code which sends me to the Authenticator app which asks me for the code to login….

This is usually an Authenticator sign-in loop. Try these steps in order:

    1. On the sign-in page, select Other ways to sign in if it appears, then choose Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app or another available method.
    2. Open Microsoft Authenticator directly and make sure:
      • the app opens normally
      • the account is listed
      • the app is unlocked
    3. If a sign-in request does not appear, check that notifications are enabled and not silent. For work or school accounts, unlocking the app may be required before approval appears.
    4. Update Microsoft Authenticator from the device app store.
    5. Restart the device.
    6. Check internet connectivity. Switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data can help.
    7. Verify the device date and time are correct.
    8. If the error shown is "Something went wrong. [4s8qz]", wait a few moments and try again. Temporary app updates or service interruptions can cause this.

If this is a work or school account and the loop continues, contact the IT admin or helpdesk and ask for the MFA settings to be reset so Authenticator can be registered again.

If this is a personal Microsoft account, use another available sign-in method if offered. If the issue continues after the steps above, send logs from Authenticator using Send feedback in the app, then contact Support.

If using Outlook mobile as a fallback, a one-time code can be retrieved in Outlook under Home > Settings > Accounts > select the account > Sign-in requests. If Authenticator is already installed, Outlook may instead require Authenticator for sign-in.
