Hi guys I’m about to pull my hair out trying to speak to someone instead of being redirected to help articles that do not solve my problem!

I have successfully reset the password on an old account but am now stuck in this cycle of “we need to secure your account” password reset. I reset it the initial time and once again thinking it was standard, but when it popped up the third time I stopped as to not flag any additional security concerns.

I no longer have access to the recovery emails attached/they have been deleted. The account was set up before authenticator existed. I have tried to find a real person to answer my question with absolutely no luck.

Plz someone help, I’m losing brain cells!!! :)

For a personal Microsoft account stuck in a repeated “secure your account” / password reset loop, the supported path is:

    1. Stop repeated sign-in and reset attempts. Repeated incorrect-password or reset attempts can trigger a temporary block.
    2. Use the Microsoft account recovery/reset flow at Recover your account.
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • If the address is not recognized, try another alias or phone number on the account.
      • Verify the account domain is correct, such as .com vs .co.uk.
    3. If no recovery email is available, use any other sign-in method already on the account, such as another alias, phone number, or available verification option shown during sign-in.
    4. Use the sign-in helper if the loop continues: Sign-in helper.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support if recovery still fails or the username is not found: Contact Microsoft Support.
      • Support can route to the best option after entering the problem.
      • Support agents cannot send password reset links or directly change account details.

If unrequested sign-in prompts appear, deny them. That can indicate someone else is trying to access the account or entered the wrong sign-in information.
