Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If the subscription was purchased through Apple, the upgrade path depends on where it was bought:
- If it was bought in the app, manage it in Apple settings: Settings > [name] > iTunes & App Store or iTunes & App Stores > Subscriptions.
- If it was not bought in the app, manage the Microsoft 365 subscription at account.microsoft.com/services.
To upgrade from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family when the subscription was purchased through the app:
- Go to device Settings > [name] > iTunes & App Stores > Subscriptions.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- The subscription is not fully cancelled until 15 days after the renewal date.
- After that time, go back to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Subscriptions and purchase Microsoft 365 Family.
If only an Outlook.com or Hotmail.com account is on the app, the app may also show Settings > Upgrade.
On Mac, Office apps from the Mac App Store provide the latest Office version, but Word, Excel, and PowerPoint require a Microsoft 365 subscription to activate. If already using Microsoft 365 installed directly from Microsoft, no extra action is needed to get newer app versions because Microsoft AutoUpdate keeps them current.
